Alappuzha — called the Venice of the East — is the historic heart of India’s coir industry. Classic Coir Factory was founded here in 1995, in the same district where coir processing has been a way of life for centuries.
From the beginning, the factory was built for export. The first consignments went to buyers in Europe, and the relationships built in those early years are still active today. Over three decades, we have expanded from raw fibre into the full value chain — yarn, geotextiles, mats and cocopeat — while keeping the same direct-export model: no middlemen, factory to container.
Today, Classic Coir ships to over 20 countries across North America, Europe, Australia, the Gulf and Asia. The factory is still in Alappuzha. The contact is still direct.

Founded
Classic Coir Factory is established in Alappuzha, Kerala — India’s coir capital. First export consignments shipped to Europe.
Range expands
Production extended from raw fibre and yarn into geotextiles and finished matting, following demand from US and EU infrastructure buyers.
Cocopeat added
Cocopeat / coir pith processing added to the facility. Horticulture buyers in Europe and Australia become a major market segment.

Alappuzha (Alleppey) sits at the intersection of Kerala’s backwater network and its coconut belt. The district produces more coir than anywhere else on earth.
Proximity to raw material, a multi-generational skilled workforce, and direct access to Cochin (Kochi) port — 85 km north — makes Alappuzha the natural home for a coir export operation. Our factory is integrated into this supply chain at every level, from husk procurement to final packing.
